The 2nd Annual Bob Spellane Golf Tournament raised almost $83,000 this year for the Worcester Educational Development Foundation. Bob has raised nearly $200,000 over the past two years for this worthy cause.
.Monday, October 6, 6-7 pm: Bob holds joint office hours in Paxton with Paxton School Committee member Robert Pelczarski with a special focus on educational issues in the Wachusett Regional School District. In the kitchen at the White Building at 17 West Street, prior to the Board of Selectmen's meeting. Any constituent who would like to speak with Bob or Mr. Pelczarski is encouraged to stop by.
Thursday, October 9, 7 am-3 pm: The Worcester Business Journal hosts its Massachusetts Energy Summit 2008: Choices & Solutions for Businesses at the DCU Center, 50 Foster St. Bob will introduce Speaker of the House Salvatore DiMasi, who is the keynote speaker at 8:30 am. Friday, October 10, 8 am: Mayor Lukes' Brownfields Roundtable will host Mary Riordan, president of Holy Name Central Catholic Junior and Senior High School, who will speak about the school's wind turbine, which came online the last week of September. Sunday, October 12, 9 am: The Worcester Fire Department holds its annual Firefighters Memorial Sunday observance to honor departed, active, and retired brothers and sisters who have left a legacy of service to the community through their devotion to duty in the protection of life and property. At the Firefighters' Monument, Fire Department Headquarters, 141 Grove St. Refreshments immediately follow the service at the EM/Training Center at the headquarters.

Friday, October 17, 8:30 am: The Central Mass. Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) hosts a Central Mass. Legislative Caucus at its offices on the 2nd floor of Union Station. Major agenda items include state funding/action to facillitate inter-municipal collaboration; state funding/action to expand public transit - commuter rail, buses, park and ride lots, etc.; preliminary discussion of FY 2010 Local Aid.
Saturday, October 18, 8-10 am: A calvacade of Democrats invite you to join them for the launch of the Worcester County Democratic League at the Manor Restaurant, 39 Franklin St., West Boylston. $25 includes breakfast buffet and membership dues to the League.
