1: FUEL ASSISTANCE OPENS
Worcester Community Action Council announces
that the 2008 fuel season officially opens on November 1. A press conference at 10 a.m. will kick-off the season. The agency, at 484 Main St., 4th floor, will have new hours for fuel intake applications. "The rising cost of fuel, coupled with a reduction in federal fuel benefits has caused a correlating economic burden for thousands of residents," says Jill Dagilis, executive director of WCAC. "The serious trends show a continued spike in utility arrearage cases, increased mortgage foreclosures, and rising homelessness throughout the state for limited income residents." For
more information about fuel assistance, email liheap@wcac.net or go
to WCAC's website at www.wcac.net
