The Mass.
House of Representatives voted on Jan. 23 to prohibit the use of
cell phones while driving except with the use of a hands-free device
and to ban all text messaging while driving. The bill would make
drivers' use of cell phones without a hands-free device a primary
offense punishable by fines ranging from $100-$500 for adult drivers.
Junior Operators will be banned from any cell phone use and banned
from texting.

at Worcester State College brought suit against the college's Board
of Directors, alleging that the Board violated state Open Meeting
Laws when at a pre-meeting dinner, a quorum discussed the issue of
arming campus police.

Court of Appeals in Boston, Lexington parents have brought suit against
that town's school system to allow them to opt out their child from
curriuculum they find offensive. The suit began when their kindergarten-aged
son brought home a gay-themed storybook. Lexington town counsel calls
the opt-out option "an administrative burden of great magnitude.”
